Share the Concern, not the Burden!
This is a big one! How does one in talking with others and being with others share concerns, but not take on the worlds suffering or place it on another? We want to be able to share our lives, our loves, our concerns, regardless of their size or complexity. Maybe we want to save the rain forest, clean up the oceans, build schools in under developed countries, end world hunger or just want to share the fact our family is feed up and we are too! It is important to learn how to express our pain and suffering without causing the other to take it on, thereby increasing the burden load. The Tibetan Buddhists have a great one for this, it is called Tonglen practice. One breathes in suffering and breathes out peace, there by transforming the concern with compassion and that universal solvent LOVE .
